Set in an arresting 18th century building in the city’s Gothic Quarter, Soho House’s impossibly chic members’ club in Barcelona immerses guests in luxurious, decadent comfort.
Designed as a home away from home for those in the film, media, and other creative industries, all group’s exclusive Houses around the world follow the same concept, yet each displays evident nods to the history, culture, and personality of its host city. Soho House Barcelona, for instance, celebrates its locale with double-height Catalan vaulted ceilings, bathrooms decked out in Spanish tiles, and spirit-lifting Med views.
While the 57 bedrooms are individually designed, all share the same modern-meets-vintage style, with exquisite mouldings, rustic Spanish patterned textiles, and Gothic inspired chandeliers. Unique artworks and mid-century European furniture complete the picture, infusing every unit with warmth and character.
Like at any Soho House property, in-room amenities are high-end, and start with Egyptian cotton sheets and a free movie library. Some of the units come with separate living rooms or views over Port Vell marina, and all have particularly attractive bathrooms adorned with beautiful local tiles, antique style bronze fittings, and roll-top bathtubs.
The House’s kitchen focuses on Mediterranean cuisine with a Catalan twist, while Cecconi’s, the hotel’s polished restaurant, serves up classic northern Italian dishes, featuring fresh seafood and handmade pasta. Its Venetian inspired decor is a mélange of exposed concrete walls, Art Deco chandeliers, and rich Italian velvet banquets.
For alfresco dining, guests head to the rooftop, where a sleek swimming pool offers panoramic views across Port Vell and the alluring skyline of Barcelona.
Among the hotel’s many wonderful features is the signature Cowshed Spa, situated in the lower lobby. The space takes inspiration from the building’s heritage, resembling an old Spanish pharmacy, and houses four treatment rooms, mani-pedi stations, and the brand’s one and only heated indoor pool.
Open to members and hotel guests, the state-of-the-art gym offers Pilates and yoga classes along with a steam room and an extensive array of Technogym machines.
An eclectic collection of club spaces, most of them available for members’ events or private hire, complete the facilities of Soho House Barcelona. These include The Green Room – a cultured speakeasy style cocktail bar ideal for parties, the nautical themed Marina Room, the clubby Square Bar, a charming shared workspace, and a 37-seat cinema with elegant armchairs upholstered in rich navy velvet.
