Located on Devonshire Road in London’s Chiswick district, The Italian Job is the first gastropub in the UK dedicated to Italian craft beer.
From historic watering holes to hip locales, London has a fabulous pub scene. However, if you want something a little bit different from your alehouse, head to The Italian Job, where the decor has a subtle Italian flair and the menu focuses on birra artigianale.
A joint venture from Rome-based restaurateur Marco Pucciotti, food entrepreneur Giuseppe Verdoni, and the guys behind Birrificio Del Ducato – an award-winning craft brewery from Parma, this contemporary Italian pub is a refreshing change from the ordinary.
Pardini Hall, the architecture studio in charge of the project’s design, proposed the use of copper as a main material, referencing the beer making process. Additionally, the establishment dazzles in a minimalist color palette of baby blues and natural wood tones.
The interior design of the pub combines raw surfaces with elegant, contemporary lines and playful nods to Italian art. Nevertheless, it has all the industrial chic touches you would expect: exposed brickwork, checkerboard concrete tiles, cool LED lighting fixtures, and a reclaimed pine floor salvaged from a train carriage.
Birra artigianale is Italy’s version of craft beer, and The Italian Job has 12 of them rotating on tap seasonally. Most of them belong to their house brewery Birrificio del Ducato, but there’s also an alternating selection of guest breweries, as well as Italian wines, spirits, and a comprehensive bottled beer menu.
And because Italians like to eat as they drink, the pub offers an appetizing choice of burgers, tapas, and refined Italian cold cuts to accompany your brew.
