Occupying a huge, carefully restored warehouse in the residential District 11 of Budapest, artKRAFT is the place to shop if you’re looking to give your home decor a unique, interesting edge. This striking design store specializes in original industrial furniture and accessories from the 20th century.
The 500 m2 building where the shop resides is a former carpet factory, which means their sprawling, open-plan showroom is nothing short of industrial cool – think lofty 9m ceilings, raw concrete floors & beams, and enormous two-level windows through which the light flows inside.
The expansive interior is stocked with one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture, from repurposed tables and Art Deco cabinets to chairs rescued from older homes and factories. One particular highlight is the impressive collection of lighting products, which includes everything from vintage industrial lamps to weird and wonderful fixtures upcycled from old Soviet military equipment.
Colorful garden sets, a fine selection of vintage leather bags, and original works of art by local designers complete the shop’s offer, and there’s also an interesting assortment of decorative objects and antique homeware.
Also housed in the facility, artKRAFT’s office, kitchen, and bathroom – all furnished with handpicked industrial treasures – look and feel like natural extensions of their lovely store.
